Your right the front was all over the place on that button. It just crumbled when it was dug.
I will get some other dug items photographed and uploaded sometime soon.

Thanks for the Pics Brian. Makes me feel almost there. Email me your cell number and I'll add you to the list of staff callers on 1000mikes you can then put some stuff up for R&R. If you want to that is.

Good finds and it sure looks pretty there. Good luck tomorrow.

What is the history behind the site ?
How many troops were there ?
Was it a winter or summer recruiting camp ?
Inquiry minds want to know.

3rd and last day of DIV at Brandy Rock Farm today. It rained until after lunch today and most everyone got a good soaking today. I can't tell you how happy I was to see the sun come out from behind the clouds. The rain didn't stop most people and they continued to dig until it stopped. I dug a dropped bullet, Cuff GS button, a couple grommets, and 2 knapsack hooks all before lunch today. After lunch the rain stopped and I didn't dig to much other than melted lead here and there. Then it happened! I got a good one...

Pic of the lower farm we hunted today.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Dropped .58 cal bullet.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Pic of the area where I found my good one today. You can see this area had been hammered
hard before I got there. The TDI looks a little rough after 4hrs in the rain, but It got the job done
sniffing it out around all these dig spots.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

6th Corps badge as found in the ground.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I will post some more pics when I get some of my finds cleaned up. If you ever want to go to a first class hunt this is it. Great time, great people and relics to be had.

Awesome badge! That's definitely going to make me do a double take on those flatten percussion caps from now on!

Way to go and have a safe trip home!

Finally made it home and took a pic of a few of the relics cleaned up a bit.
Couldn't be happier with my 6th corps badge. I was a little shocked to see the silver
after just a little water only cleaning.

Also worth a look is the page below.

A 6th corps soldier could have been from several states. They numbered at almost 25,000 at the beginning of the war. They were pretty much anywhere serious action happened even Gettysburg! Look at this for some quick info.

Brian - it was nice to meet you this weekend. Clint and I have been telling everyone that your Corps Badge was brass!

BTW what camera are you using? Those pictures are just amazing, especially the close ups!

Hey Dough,

Nice to have you on the forum! I want to say that his camera is a Nikon Coolpix, but I'm not certain on which model it is. I'm sure he'll be on here tonight after work to give ya the right info!

Thanks again for joining!

Welcome to the forum Dough and Clint! It was a pleasure meeting you both also. You guys were tearing up the relics.

The corps badge is brass so you are correct on that. It just happened to be silver plated. The other side is green as can be with no trace of silver left.

The camera I use is a Nikon Coolpix L19. I don't think they still make the L19 but upgraded it to a L20. Same camera with just a little more resolution. I'm a big fan of the Nikon Coolpix cameras. They are inexpensive and do a great job on small detailed pics. You should be able to pic one up for around $120.00

Here is another picture I took of my badge and Clints solid silver one setting side by side.
Post some pics of your other finds when you both get a chance. I'd like to see the DIV finds plus what type of stuff you both dig down in GA.
