Last year sometime I was with a friend of mine eating lunch. He ran into a guy at the resturant that he knew. I got introduced to the this guy and my friend started talking about his collection of WW2 and older items. He asked me what I collected and liked. I responded Civil War era items. He said I've got something you need to see then. He said he had a very cool sword and I was welcome to come over and check it out sometime. Tues my friend invited me to go see him to check out this sword. I get there and I'm blown away with this one. This man purchased a Nasville Plow Works sword some years ago directly from the orginial family. I was stunned that he knew how important the information was to carry on. At the time of purchase he had the orginial owner wright a letter stating the family members name and other details with names of everyone it had been passed down to from that point on. He even tracked down the orginial owners tombstone and took pictures of the sword laying across it. It was just good to see a quality sword with such great documentation to go along with it. This is one item that will never be just a random sword that you'll never have to wonder about the history that goes along with it.
On a side note we got to talking about metal detecting and camps. He knew a great deal about some of the local history of the area. He asked me why so many minie balls where located in a certain area. We talked about the area and I've never been there. He goes on to tell me in the 60's he could find them on the ground after a good rain. As it was close to where he used to live. He offered to take me out to the property sometime and show me where he had found them. Looks like I might have found a new spot. I'll let ya'll know if it pans out.
And no the swords not for sale, but if it is I've got first dibs.
