Folks,

Dean Thomas' latest work is currently offered for pre-order. This is volume 4 of the Roundball to Rimfire series and is dedicated to a detailed overview of the CS Ordnance System and the small arms ammunition produced during the ACW.

Chapter One -- The Confederate Ordnance Bureau in 1861
Chapter Two -- Victories and Defeats in 1862
Chapter Three -- The Pursuit of Uniformity in 1863
Chapter Four -- Dwindling Resources in 1864
Chapter Five -- Calamity Has Fallen Upon Us – 1865
Chapter Six -- Confederate Small Arms Ammunition Specimens
Appendix I -- Josiah Gorgas – Extracts from My Notes Written Chiefly Soon After the Close of the War
Appendix II -- Work of the Ordnance Bureau by John W. Mallet
Appendix III -- John W. Mallet: Scholar, Teacher, Gentleman by William Holding Echols
Appendix IV -- Greenwood & Batley’s Laboratory Machinery for the C.S. Central Government
Appendix V -- Levi S. White – Confederate Agent
Appendix VI -- Spencer Ammunition

Volumes 5 and 6 will cover details about each of the arsenals and manufacturing locations and the three volume set will quickly become the "Bible" of CS small arms production. Plus, I took most of the photos used in all three volumes so I have to endorse the work. cheers
